A poultice for marble stains typically consists of a mixture of ground chalk (whiting) and hydrogen peroxide, which can be found at hardware stores. Some variations may use a different chemical than hydrogen peroxide. Follow the instructions provided with the product as a general guide:

  • Wet the poultice with distilled water in CBD.
  • Apply the poultice to the stain or stained area on the marble.
  • Leave it in place for 48 hours to allow it to dry and absorb into the marble.
  • After 48 hours, rinse off the poultice. The stain should have disappeared.
  • Finally, reseal the marble with a penetrating sealer in CBD

As marble is calcium-based, acidic substances such as vinegar and lemon juice should never be used in CBD.

When using any cleaning product on marble, ensure it is pH neutral in CBD.

  • Mix warm water and a pH neutral marble floor cleaner in a bucket
  • Optionally, add 1 cup of cornflour to the mixture.
  • Stir vigorously to ensure thorough mixing.
  • Use this mixture to mop the marble floor, ensuring even coverage and gentle cleaning.

The cornflour helps to remove marks and stains from marble as it will help to draw out substances from the porous stone.
